How to play Sunken City Riches
Set your stake, decide whether to activate the Super Stake side bet, and spin. Wins form when three or more matching symbols land on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel, across any of the game's 1024 payways. Where a symbol sits vertically on its reel does not matter — only that the reel is part of an unbroken left-to-right chain. Before your first real spin, do two things almost nobody does: check which RTP build your casino runs, and size your stake for a 5-out-of-5 volatility game.
What "1024 payways" actually means
Forget paylines — there are none. On a ways-pay slot every symbol position on a reel can connect to every symbol position on the next reel. A classic 5-reel, 4-row grid produces 4 × 4 × 4 × 4 × 4 = 1024 distinct paths across the screen, and the game checks all of them on every spin.
Three consequences follow, and they shape how the game feels:
- You cannot "miss" a way by betting less. All 1024 are always active. Your stake sets the value of a win, not how many ways are counted.
- Adjacency is everything. A match on reels 1-2-3 pays. The same symbols on reels 2-3-4 pay nothing, because the chain must start at the leftmost reel.
- Extra positions multiply, they do not add. This is why Payway Maker and Split Symbols are the engine of this game: adding one row to a single reel takes 1024 ways to 1280, and a symbol splitting into four copies counts as four separate paths through that reel.
The six-step routine
- Open the demo before you deposit
Identical RNG, identical maths, fake balance. Twenty minutes of free play on a maximum-volatility slot teaches you the shape of the game — long flat stretches, then a burst — before that shape costs you anything. More on the demo →
- Check which RTP build you are on
This is the highest-value ten seconds in the whole session. The game ships in 94.00%, 95.50% and 96.00% builds and the casino picks one. Menu → "i" → paytable → read the RTP line. Full RTP breakdown →
- Size the stake to survive the variance
The working rule is 1% of your session bankroll per spin. €100 set aside means €1 spins. On a 5/5 game the return lives inside the bonus rounds, so the only question that matters is whether your balance lasts long enough to reach one.
- Decide on Super Stake — before you are tilted, not during
It doubles the stake and switches on an enhanced game state that lifts bonus frequency. It buys frequency, not edge. If you want it, halve your base stake first: €1 with Super Stake costs €2 a spin and halves your runway.
- Read the info screen for triggers
Nine features is a lot to hold in your head. The in-game info screen is the authoritative source for what opens Free Spins, how the Pick Bonus is entered, and what Spin to Win and the Super Wheel cost. Feature names are confirmed; exact trigger numbers publish with the paytable on release day.
- Set limits in the casino's own tools
Deposit limit, loss limit, session reminder. Every licensed casino is required to offer them. Set them while you are still deciding calmly — that is the entire point of them.
Reading the screen
| Control | What it does | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Stake / bet | Sets the value of one spin | Scales every win and the max-win figure with it |
| Super Stake toggle | Doubles the stake, enables enhanced game state | Higher bonus frequency, same house edge |
| Spin to Win | Side bet, adds roughly +1% RTP | The only switch that improves long-run return |
| Autoplay | Runs a set number of spins | Same RNG as manual spins — no timing effect |
| Turbo / quick spin | Shortens animations | Changes nothing but the speed you lose or win at |
| Info / paytable | Symbol values, RTP, feature rules | Read it. This is where the RTP build is disclosed. |
Common mistakes on a maximum-volatility slot
Raising stakes during a dry spell
The single most expensive habit in slot play. The RNG has no memory of your last 200 spins, and a game that has not paid is not "due". Raising the stake to catch up only shortens the runway you needed to reach the bonus in the first place.
Treating the max win as a target
x15,000 exists in the maths. It is a lottery-tier outcome on a 5/5 game and belongs nowhere in your planning.
Turning on Super Stake without adjusting the base stake
People flip the toggle and keep the same base stake, silently doubling their exposure. Halve the base first if you want it on.
Never opening the info screen
It is where the RTP build is disclosed. Skipping it can mean playing a 94.00% build all evening when a 96.00% one was available at another licensed casino.
There is no strategy that beats an RNG slot. No spin timing, no bet progression, no hot or cold state. Every outcome is drawn independently the instant you press spin. The only levers that genuinely change your expected cost are the RTP build, the Spin to Win side bet, your stake size and when you stop.
